Prof Michael Mainelli at Z/YEN Group shares Blockchain research and initiatives
The announcements from eight insurers (one retail, several wholesale and reinsurers) using Z/YEN’s ChainZy mutual distributed ledger technology in earnest, and their large clinical trial clients, has heightened attention on building MDLs quickly and privately using proven technology and not depending on Bitcoin, Ethereum or Ripple payment systems. Z/YEN are already doing over 50,000 clinical data trial logs each day – you can see the heatmap on http://www.metrognomo.com/heatmap/ of two different trials. They have also built a separate identity system IDchainZ, www.idchainz.com, using their ChainZy technology, for Know-Your-Customer/Anti-Money-Laundering/Ultimate Beneficial Ownership problems.

MetroGnomo
MetroGnomo was formally launched in January. A free ‘world record service’ for timestamping and archiving with the States of Alderney. MetroGnomo is the first timestamper based on a mutual distributed ledger (aka blockchain technology) without a coin. Validation is via an ‘agnostic/woven’ broadcasting approach. Press release here.
Anybody can use MetroGnomo – obtaining a MetroID for stamping takes about 15 seconds (a valid email address is the only requirement) and you can stamp your first file in another 15.
