The City Business Club and ISITC are holding an event on the evening of Tuesday 16th July, sponsored by Metro Bank, to discuss the recent survey and landscape report on the impact of application resilience and its management.

Catastrophic IT failure has hit the news on several occasions over recent times and the impact has had far-reaching effects on financial performance and companies reputations. Typically IT failure is blamed on infrastructure or platform resilience, but what about application resilience?

Rob Scott – Managing Director, Market Services, Commerzbank AG
He was instrumental in the creation of the first major European outsourcing investment banking global back office whilst at Accenture (Accenture Post Trade Services). He has written and spoken on many topics surrounding the post-trading landscape and its implications to cost containment, transformation and inclusion of FinTech. He also advises clients with respect to regulatory understanding and compliance.Rob currently sits on the Board of the AFME Post Trade division, is the CEO of ISITC Europe and sits on the Deutsche Borse (Eurex) FICC Board Advisory Committee. Rob is a FinTech Inner Circle member and Fintech Influencers member. Rob has over 25 years’ experience in the running and acquisition of front-office businesses lines and in the commercialisation of global core operations of Investment banks, broker dealers and investor service business lines, including Bank of America, Cantor Fitzgerald/BGC, Citi and Deutsche Bank.

Charles Brewer – Expert Witness
Charles Brewer provides expert witnesses to courts and litigants on IT matters ranging from systems and application failures to intellectual property, primarily in matters in the financial sector. He believes that there are few if any issues which cannot be translated from technical obscurity to everyday concepts. He believes that what goes wrong in IT matters is the broadly same as what goes wrong in everyday business once the jargon is stripped away and the real issues exposed. He has worked for Price Waterhouse, Merrill Lynch and Citibank, and run his own business since 1994 a working in over 40 countries around the world.

Dr Aled Sage – VP Engineering, Cloudsoft
Aled brings 17 years of experience developing distributed applications, mostly in the enterprise sector and particularly Financial Services. Particular areas of interest include devops, automation, cloud, concurrency and distributed systems. Prior to joining Cloudsoft, Aled was Chief Architect at Enigmatec Corporation. He holds a PhD (Computer Science) from the University of St Andrews.

Martin York – The City Business Club
Martin is a founder of the City Business Club and a founder of G4h a sales and marketing consultancy specialising in technology. He holds an M.Sc. in systems engineering and has worked in technology all of his working career. Serving as a board member of Siemens Nixdorf in the early 90’s. followed by 4 years working for Steve Jobs as managing director of Northern Europe and EMEA for NeXT software. He then owned and sold a successful software development business before co-founding G4h.
