ISITC TALKTIME: Strategic Planning for Move to Tokenization
TalkTime Podcast: Strategic Planning for Move to Tokenization
In this ISITC Europe TALKTIME Podcast Gary Wright, Director of Industry Affairs, discusses with Ian Perham, Senior Consultant at Tori Global, the various changes that are challenging firms in the Capital Markets and looks at strategic planning for the move to tokenization.
Their chat ranges from operational and business areas of concern, which all firms will need to look into in order to prepare successfully for T+1 transition by October 2027. The changes will vary from firm to firm depending on their business model and technology support given that “T+1 solutions are not a one size fits all”. Their deliberations included various challenges, which should be planned for today, such as futureproofing the business, moving to Real-time Processing, Tokenization and Crypto. The talk also covered data quality and accessibility to Blockchain and new market structures.
They mentioned the upcoming industry roundtable on the 19th of June, made up of an invited audience, who will be able to take an active part in discussing, how to build a strategy today to protect business for the future, as it comes under unprecedented change in both the markets and products. The roundtable will aim to not only cover T+1 requirements but look at T+0, real-time operating and processing. Should firms budget today for T+1 changes on their legacy technology or take the opportunity to change? What are market structure firms doing and when will they start the changes that will impact all types of firms but importantly investors?
The inevitable tokenized asset and crypto discussion will be interesting as we are sure to cover, how liquidity will be managed in cash, financial products and individual assets. Other discussion points are likely to be:
What about architecture and AI and DLT?
What about Data standards?
What about international regulation and compatibility to the domestic market?
Will geographical locations of stock exchanges matter or will it become a global virtual market?
What about technology changes as old legacy systems are finally phased out or dramatically replaced?
Change to what? When do I need to make the decision?
What will be more future business and who will be my clients?
