Michael Völter (Germany)
Dr. Michael Völter is one of the ISITC Europe Country Ambassadors representing Germany.
Michael is an experienced manager, holding a PhD in law, who developed his career for 32 years in the financial sector,. In 2022 he has founded his own company “Voelter Financial Advisory GmbH” to serve as an experienced board member and executive advisor in selected companies and in a small range of projects.
Until December 2021, he worked as Group CEO of the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, the sixth largest exchange group in Europe. He committed the company to a full-scale digital strategy and built several leading digital asset projects. Among others, Michael initiated the first regulated exchange for cryptocurrencies in Europe (BSDEX) and the leading retail distribution app (BISON) in the crypto space with at that time over 500’000 active users in Germany .
Prior to joining Boerse Stuttgart he was CIO (investment) and CFO for a property/casualty and life insurance company, SVSparkassen Versicherung, managing more than 20 bn. EUR assets under management. He was looking for sustainable and long term investments always interested in expanding the investment universe to new asset classes (i.e. infrastructure and sustainable assets).
During his career Michael has joined over 20 different boards of international companies mainly in the financial sector. Also he draw experience in being the chairman in some of these boards being a driver for the strategy and structural work of the companies. He is an author of the book “tasks and duties of a board member”.
The expertise of Michael is reorganisation and restructuring of companies and groups, the development of strategies and their implementation, the development of new business lines, for example cryptocurrency trading, token or foreign market making. Michael is firm in regulation of financial institutions.
