TalkTime Podcast: AI, Bots and Brains: The Future of Intelligent Automation and Generative AI

In this latest episode of the ISITC Europe TalkTime series of podcasts entitled AI, Bots and Brains: The Future of Intelligent Automation and Generative AI. Richard Leigh, Director of SIO, and ISITC Europe is joined by Sean McGarvey, Head of Operations Data & Analytics, Morgan Stanley and Anand K. Mahendra, Founder, Centrallis, who discuss and offer different perspectives and knowledge, on this hot topic and the capital markets position on this vigorously expanding technology.

Developing solutions for ongoing and longstanding business and operational problems is a clear target for generative AI. The potential improvements in data management towards 100% data quality will not only manifest in cost savings but in gaining improved services. Intelligent automation with users becoming central to the development and machine learning, are all tools that can supplement user activities building a combined Artificial intelligence with humans.

The discussion covered a lot of ground, and included generative AI within risk frameworks, either those existing or to be created, building a more efficient regulatory environment throughout the industry and where increased protection of investors and Issuers are the focus. Demonstrated by the introduction of the EU AI Act, which entered into force on the 1st of August 2024.

The podcast has been split into 3 bite size chunks for ease of viewing. The aim is to be informative, increase viewers awareness and understanding of AI. Richard explores some key areas with his guests including:

  • Generative AI and automated workflows, which appear in a myriad of systems.
  • How data enrichment tools are producing increased automation possibilities across the industry and in supply chains.
  • Generative AI is a game changer, with a fast-growing number of use cases across different departments, within an enterprise and any number of business units.
  • Robotic process automation is touched on during a wide-ranging discussion.
  • How workflow integration with email will improve communication internally and externally. Bringing greater efficiencies for firms in servicing and operations. It is expected that this type of AI architecture will become the standard, as the capital markets move to a T+0 settlement norm.
  • Extracting key data from complex and large documents will be possible with generative AI. Helping organisations across multiple operations, for example, compliance and corporate finance.
